Amanda Wood (she/her)

Amanda takes a lighthearted and practical approach to yoga. In Flow Foundations you can expect to learn the fundamental vocabulary (what is chaturanga, anyway?), poses, and philosophical concepts of a vinyasa-style practice. Amanda will give lots of options and tips for making the poses feel comfortable and practical for your body. During class you’ll experience an accessible amount of physical challenge as you move with rhythm and expand your body awareness. Above all, you will be encouraged to explore the uniqueness of your own practice and find ways to make yoga poses work for you.

Each class is a well-rounded offering with a consistent structure: we begin with time in stillness to settle in, then move into gentle rhythmic movement to prime the body and mind for our asana practice. In the movement portion of class we explore strength and range of motion via yoga postures and modern movement technique. And in the final moments of class, we return to stillness and invite calm into our practice.

Amanda originally gravitated to yoga as a way to ease sore muscles from years of athletics. In college, she discovered that yoga was more than a physical practice; it helped her find her center and adjust to her new home and lifestyle. She later pursued her 200 Hour RYT with South Boston Yoga Center with David Vendetti and Todd Skoglund. Since then, she has continued to explore different styles, disciplines, and philosophies within the yoga realm. She has studied Vinyasa yoga with Jason Crandell, Iyengar yoga with Nikki Costello, and Restorative yoga with Brenna Matthews and Alex Bauermeister.

Amanda is a 500 Hour Certified teacher with Yoga Alliance. She is currently pursuing an additional 300 Hour certification with Jason Crandell, and is almost always reading a yoga-related book.
